Binghamton Mirabito Convenience Store Robbed, New Mirabito in Syracuse Increases Security

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) —After a Mirabito convenience store in Binghamton was reportedly robbed back in June, a new Mirabito convenience store off of East Brighton Street in Syracuse is taking its security and public safety to another level.

The employee at Mirabito, Ashley Barr, said the convenience store opened Monday and has already taken action to keep their employees and customers safe.

“We have lots of cameras in here,” Barr said.

Barr said the store has a total of 40 security cameras.

“We have like 20 cameras in here and 20 cameras outside,” she explained.

Barr said the convenience store installed a panic button for employees. She said it is directly linked to the Syracuse Police Department and is only used in case of an emergency. When the button is hit, the police department is alerted right away.

In addition, Mirabito chose its store hours carefully to ensure safety.

Barr said the store is currently open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. and that store hours will slightly change next week. She said the store will open at the same time but will close at 11:30 p.m. instead.
